| I've been having all sorts of crazy dreams lately. They're really vivid and usually have a friend or family member in them (which is a change because I either don't remember my dreams or they star people I don't recognize) or a mixed-up scenario of something that happened or a show that I watched. For example, a week ago I had a dream that Katherine and I were driving across northern Minnesota and I saw a pack of animals running in the distance. I think they were caribou, and then there were what looked like some really giant caribou running with them. And by giant, I mean like 3 stories tall. I asked her what they were and she told me they were moose. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a moose, but I seem to have just believed her. I don't know what we were doing in northern MN or why I wasn't scared of a 3 story tall animal, but it just seemed like a normal, everyday conversation. | | |
| I had an amazing time at Tim and Becky's wedding this weekend. The weather was beautiful, I got to see lots of friends that don't cross my path very often anymore, and I got to dance like it was going out of style in cute shoes. What more can you ask for in a weekend? Well, I guess it would have been nice if I could have shared it with Brady, but he is in Houston working for Walter P. Moore, a civil engineering company. He left a little over a week ago and will be back on Thursday for a wedding this weekend. Even though it hasn't been very long I miss him like crazy and can't wait to see him again. Also, I'm getting nervous because 3 weeks from tomorrow is my first eco-history camp of the summer. The Historical Society where I work got a grant to offer free camps for environmental and historical education and I've spent the past five months putting lesson plans and curriculum together. I'll finally get to see it all come together!
I'm off to bed now and hopefully when I wake up my neck won't be so sore. Those hotel beds and pillows were terrible, but they did offer a free hot breakfast and a free cocktail every happy hour, so that pretty much makes up for it. What a great hotel.
| I can't believe it's been almost a year since I graduated from college. I've been working at the museum for a little over a year now, and I feel like I'm finally getting the education programs to where I want them to be. It's so satisfying but I look back and think about all the hard work and major drama that went on, and I can't always be sure it was worth it. Maybe I'll feel differently in 5 years when I have a different job and live in a different place, and I can't honestly say that I regret the job, but it's really hard to see the big picture right now. | | |
| December 14, 2007:
While standing in the bathroom at the St. Paul Hotel, I discovered my very first wrinkle. Because I am not very old, at first glance, I was quite frightened. However, upon closer examination I realized that it is a miniscule crease on my left cheek, visible only at about 3 inches, and that it was put there by SMILING. As soon as I realized it was a smile line, I instantly felt better about it. At least it's not a forehead crease from worry, or a lip pucker from frowning. I am now wearing my wrinkle with pride.
I did, however, purchase and begin using Vitamin E cream last night. Just because I'm embracing one doesn't mean I'm welcoming more.
| Having a Sunday/Monday weekend is just great. Since I work so much the other five days of the week (at the museum from 8-4 and at the pub from 5-11 or 12, depending), it's nice to have a weekend day to spend with friends and a week day to get caught up on errands. I would highly recommend this arrangement to anyone. | | |
